The brief

What this is. And what it isn’t.

What AI Would Buy is a weekly ranking of brands and products as recommended by leading AI assistants. Every week we send the same buyer-intent questions — "the best running sneakers under $500", "the most reliable robot vacuum for pet hair", and so on — to Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini and Perplexity, then aggregate the brands and products each model surfaces into a single leaderboard.

A high score means an AI assistant is likely to name this product when a buyer asks about its category — not that the product is objectively best. AI assistants over-index on well-known brands, and that bias propagates into our ranking. The full mechanics — how prompts are chosen, how rank converts to score, how disagreements between models are surfaced — live on the methodology page.

Modern buyers — especially in B2B — increasingly ask LLMs instead of searching Google. What AI Would Buy shows which brands and products the models recommend most often, representing a new kind of organic visibility in the AI era.
