Critics & buyers

The human jury in one chapter — what the video reviewers score and say, the reviews behind it, and how Google buyers rate them.

What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

AirPods Pro (2nd Generation)
4.2/5
Reviewers praise
  • Noise cancellation roughly doubles the effectiveness of the first generation, measurably reducing ambient sound from 60 to 30-35 decibels
  • Adaptive transparency mode intelligently reduces loud environmental noises while amplifying voices, protecting hearing in construction or concert settings
  • U1 chip enables precise Find My tracking like an AirTag, making lost earbuds locatable through the charging case speaker
Reviewers push back
  • Exterior design is visually indistinguishable from the first generation without close inspection of tiny details like the lanyard loop or acoustic mesh
  • Still only available in white, requiring engraving or aftermarket cases for identification
  • Sound signature remains subtle and balanced rather than bass-heavy, which may disappoint some listeners
Reviewers agree these deliver significantly improved noise cancellation and longer battery life, though the design remains nearly identical to the original model.
— best for: People who work in loud environments, frequently lose items, or found the original tips uncomfortable will benefit most from the tracking, adaptive transparency, and fit improvements.
Pixel Buds Pro
across 5 reviews
3.6/5
Reviewers praise
  • Compact, pocket-friendly case with wireless charging and satisfying magnetic closure
  • Strong active noise cancellation that effectively removes background white noise and hum
  • Excellent battery life that exceeds competing mainstream earbuds
Reviewers push back
  • Bass-heavy tuning with no equalizer available in the Pixel Buds app or on Pixel phones to adjust it
  • Touch controls are overly sensitive and can trigger accidentally when adjusting fit or swatting at something
  • Wing-free design trades secure lockdown for comfort, making them less stable during vigorous movement than models with wingtips
Reviewers call the Pixel Buds Pro strong all-rounders with excellent comfort, noise cancellation, and battery life, held back only by heavy bass tuning and minor fit issues for some ears.
— best for: Android users who want a compact, comfortable earbud with strong noise cancellation and long battery life, especially if they enjoy pronounced bass.

Marques Brownlee 4.2/5
Mike O'Brien 3.1/5

One reviewer found the original Pixel Buds Pro fit less comfortable than the A-series and preferred stems for weight distribution, while others praised the Pro's wingless comfort

These Google buds are VERY high-tech. This is my first pair of blue tooth buds and these are amazing. They stay in my ears very well. They are totally controllable via little taps and swipes on either bud... volume, pause, skip or return to track, mode (like noise cancellation) or pass-thru. They auto pair with my phone and NEVER lose the connection. Of course they have mics so you can easily acce Donk · walmart.com
