Reviewers praise
  • Dual interchangeable bean hoppers solve the caffeinated-versus-decaf problem cleanly and with minimal cross-contamination.
  • Milk texture is outstanding for a one-touch machine, producing true micro-foam capable of latte art at the right froth setting.
  • Espresso quality is rated among the best from a bean-to-cup machine, with a true double-shot that grinds and pulls twice.
Reviewers push back
  • The flat top-mounted screen is awkward for shorter users, wheelchair users, or anyone whose counter or cabinet clearance is limited.
  • The 1.4-litre water tank is smaller than comparable machines in the range, requiring more frequent refills.
  • The milk carafe bottle slides off its head easily, especially when pulling out the drip tray, and the fill markings are faint.
The Rivelia is a well-built super-automatic with genuinely excellent espresso and milk quality, lifted above the crowd by its dual-hopper bean-switching system, though ergonomic compromises and a smaller water tank are real drawbacks.
— best for: Households that want high-quality bean-to-cup espresso and milk drinks with the flexibility to switch between two different beans — particularly caffeinated and decaf — at the press of a button.

The bypass chute divides reviewers: one treats it as a handy pre-ground option, another considers it pointless and warns strongly against using it due to mould risk.

The price-to-performance ratio of this Breville is exceptional. It heats up incredibly fast, and the extraction is consistent with a rich, thick crema that far exceeded my expectations for an entry-level machine. The build quality is solid, the design is sleek, and it’s perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy professional-grade coffee at home without breaking the bank. I'd been waiting for this machine to hit the North American market for about 2 years. So I was thrilled to get mine. It is very easy to use. Hard to make a mistake because it guides you through everything. I admit, my regular coffee tastes a little different largely because of the grind, but it makes perfect lattes and capucinnos. It's a fantastic machine! Wendyanne C. · homecoffeesolutions.com
