What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Moab 3 Mid Waterproof
across 5 reviews
4.0/5
divided
Reviewers praise
  • Exceptionally comfortable out of the box with generous padding in tongue, ankle cuff, and footbed
  • Vibram outsole delivers reliable traction on wet and dry terrain with minimal visible wear after extensive use
  • Durable construction—stitching, upper materials, and sole hold up well over hundreds of miles
Reviewers push back
  • Waterproofing fails after several months of regular use, particularly in the low-cut version
  • Wide toe box and pronounced arch support may not suit flat or narrow feet
  • Factory insoles are mediocre and often require replacement
Reviewers agree the Moab 3 Mid Waterproof is a durable, comfortable hiking boot with excellent traction and padding, though waterproofing deteriorates and the wide fit may not suit narrower feet.
— best for: Day hikers and casual backpackers seeking a comfortable, well-cushioned boot with proven traction and a roomy fit for wider feet.

Ive been wearing the Merrell Moab2 and Moab3 for years. Shoe fit has always been a problem for me and when I find something that works, I stay with it. Merrell Moab's fit right out of the box. I'm a size 12 and generally they feel a little tight and cramped when I first put them on, but after an afternoon's walk they fit like a glove. This past year I upgraded to the Gore-Tex as the waterproof one merrell.com

My search for well fitting boots has been complicated by a narrow heel and wide instep; feet almost impossibly between just about all manufacturer's sizes (10.3? 43.6? no one makes these); and then, a few years ago, plantar fasciitis, which I think was in part brought on by the new crop of shoes with almost no insole structure, combined with my search for light weight boots.
