Critics & buyers

What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Moab Speed 2
across 5 reviews
4.0/5
divided
Reviewers praise
  • FloatPro foam midsole delivers genuine underfoot cushioning with enough stability to handle moderate trail terrain
  • TC5+ Vibram outsole with 4 mm lugs provides strong grip on dry and mixed surfaces
  • Durable upper combining engineered mesh, ripstop nylon, and TPU overlays resists abrasion well
Reviewers push back
  • Wet-terrain traction is only average — reviewers flag slippery performance on wet rock or mud
  • Fit runs slightly wide; narrow-footed wearers must cinch laces hard and may still feel excess room
  • Stock insole is considered thin and underwhelming, often benefiting from an aftermarket replacement
Reviewers broadly agree the Moab Speed 2 is a comfortable, well-built hiking shoe that excels on moderate trails but is not a replacement for heavier, more protective footwear on demanding terrain.
— best for: Hikers and active walkers who want a lightweight, cushioned shoe for moderate trails, mixed-terrain day hikes, and casual everyday wear.

I have hiked numerous times on rough terrain with these shoes. After trying out about a half dozen other well known hiking and trail running shoes, I decided I would keep these Moab Speed 2 shoes purchased on line from REI. I found them comfortable and lightweight. They have good traction and stability, better than a typical trail running shoe. I was impressed with the lacing and tongue system. I have worn these everyday for the last 3 years. NO de-laminating of the soles! No hole in the toe. The upper has outlasted the vibram soles, which I didn't think was possible. Best work boots I've had in +20 years. Usually boots last me 6 months to 1 year. Heck even the laces haven't broke! Did I mention how comfortable they are? Thats why I chose them to begin with, they were the most comfortabl Ian N · basspro.com
