The Zephyrus G16 remains a beautifully built, portable powerhouse with a standout OLED display and speakers, but its performance-mode software leaves real GPU power on the table unless tuned manually.

Buyers4.6206 ratings

Owners love the stunning OLED display, sleek thin design, and powerful RTX 5070 performance, but trackpad reliability issues and occasional build inconsistencies divide satisfaction.

Brand claims3/3 true3 promises checked

The marketing claims about design, portability, and display quality are well-supported by reviewer feedback praising the thin chassis, lightweight build, and stunning OLED panel. However, the pitch remains silent on response time, refresh rate, battery life, and cooling specifics—areas where the data provides no verification either way. Notably, reviewers flag that stock performance modes underfeed the GPU, requiring manual tuning to unlock full power, which tempers the performance narrative.

About

What it is.

Part of the ROG Zephyrus G16 line, this is ASUS's slim-chassis gaming laptop built around an aluminum shell with customizable lighting, pairing an Intel Core Ultra processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU. The 16-inch OLED Nebula Display anchors the experience, engineered for fast response times, high resolution, and a smooth refresh rate, while ROG Intelligent Cooling — including liquid metal application and Arc Flow Fans — manages thermals for sustained workloads.

It's built for buyers who want a portable, premium 16-inch machine with a striking screen and are comfortable adjusting performance modes manually to unlock full GPU output, rather than relying on a single stock preset. Storage runs from a 1TB drive up through larger capacities, and the chassis is finished in gray, running Windows.

The verdict

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 ranks as the AI panel's top gaming laptop, backed by buyers' 4.6/5 rating who praise its OLED display and RTX 5070 power, though trackpad durability and occasional build inconsistencies temper overall confidence for a machine positioned at $1630–$2150.

I had two devices and had to return both, here is my experience: Spec-wise, it's simply perfect. People are talking about the limited wattage on GPU, but it's powerful enough for most of my game and AI usage (needed 20g VRAM, which is great!) But the trackpad of the first G16 will sometimes miss a few swipes. And it happens quite often especially when using two fingers scrolling webpages.
