The Baby Jogger City GO 2 delivers on its core promises around installation ease, universal belt-path compatibility, and stroller integration—all strongly supported by owner feedback. However, the weight/height capacity claim is undermined by widespread reports of babies outgrowing the narrow seat well before reaching the stated 35 lb limit, creating a significant gap between spec and real-world longevity. Safety certifications and canopy features remain unverified by the available review data.

The verdict

What the panel makes of it.

The City GO 2 ranks sixth among infant car seats and excels at installation and stroller integration, but owners report babies outgrowing the narrow seat within months despite its stated 4–35 lb capacity, making longevity its biggest weakness for the $400 price point.

The narrow fit that divides buyers aligns with video reviewers' concerns about the car seat's limited growth accommodation.

In their words

We had this car seat for my first son & used for 13 months. We loved the easy install without the base for Ubers/traveling & grandma’s car. The only things I don’t love about this car seat are: 1- it is not compatible with non-baby jogger strollers & 2- it is on the heavier side. Still, it is a really great car seat for a solid price. We bought the travel system on Amazon Prime deal for $499!

I really loved this car seat as I thought it would last me a long time, and even bought 2 bases and the stroller. But after 3 months my daughter is miserable in this seat - she has run out of room and is uncomfortable, as it’s way to small (& she gets super hot). There is no way the size and weight is correct, as she is 14lbs and 25inches and already has outgrown this seat that should have lasted

Find your situation?

Made for some — wrong for others.

Simplifierjust works

You need a car seat that installs easily without fiddling or complex setup.

Good fit

Installation ease is marked high; the compact base and straightforward design suggest a safe-default pick that works out of the box without configuration burden.

Reliability-Seekerproven & safe

You want a proven, low-risk car seat from an established brand you can trust.

Could fit

Baby Jogger is a mature, recognized brand with 416 reviews showing broad consensus; the settled product and mid-to-high marks on installation and build quality signal dependability.

Quality Perfectionistbest-in-class

You demand the best-in-class car seat with no compromises on safety or design.

Could fit

3.7/5 rating and mid-tier marks on comfort and durability fall short of top-of-class; PIPA RX commands higher prestige and deeper quality consensus. Consider PIPA RX.

Value-Maximizerprice first

You want a safe car seat without overspending on features you won't use.

Not for you

At ~$400, it's mid-market priced but lacks standout value signals; cheaper rivals like LiteMax or Keyfit cover basics at half the cost with similar ratings. Consider Keyfit 30.

Grounded in our buyer-review, reviewer-video, price and successor signals — a poor fit names a closer pick · as of Jul 10.
