About

What it is.

Facet 75 OutDry sits in Columbia's Facet family of hiking footwear, built as a low-cut trail shoe rather than a boot. The upper uses Columbia's OutDry construction, which bonds the waterproof membrane directly to the outer material instead of relying on a separate liner, aimed at keeping water out on wet, muddy, or rain-soaked trails. Underfoot, a TECHLITE midsole handles cushioning and rebound over long distances, while the Omni-GRIP outsole is designed to hold on varied terrain, from loose gravel to wet rock.

It's positioned for day hikers who want a dependable, all-conditions trail shoe from an established outdoor brand, without paying for mountaineering-grade or ultralight racing features they won't use.

The verdict

Columbia makes the Facet 75 OutDry hiking shoe. The shoe released around 2019. Columbia designed it in the United States. The OutDry membrane keeps feet dry without adding weight. Hikers buy it to stay dry on wet trails. AI assistants rank it number ten for lightweight hiking shoes.

In their words

These shoes are super comfortable and light, great for long walks or active days. The sole gives you strong grip on different surfaces, so you feel steady even on wet ground. Best of all, they’re completely waterproof – your feet stay dry even in heavy rain or when you step in puddles. A practical and stylish choice for both city and outdoor adventures.

Mykhailo · verified purchase · columbia.com

Unfortunately I can't recommend the Facets. I had two previous pairs of trail running shoes from Columbia, but more recent versions of the range are not waterproof. Tried these instead and they are great all around in terms of look and fit......but after 5 months of relatively light use both shoes are leaking on the instep side at the point around the ball of the foot.

Reliability-Seekerproven & safe

You prefer a proven, established brand with broad buyer consensus.

Good fit

Columbia is a mature, well-known outdoor brand with 190 reviews showing solid consensus (4.4/5). The Facet 75 is an established model, not a new entrant, reducing adoption risk.

Value-Maximizerprice first

You want solid hiking shoes without overspending on premium features.

Could fit

Mid-range price ($113–209) with a trusted 4.4/5 rating covers hiking basics well. Strong grip is a core need met, though weak comfort and durability ratings suggest compromises for the cost.

Simplifierjust works

You need hiking shoes that work straight out of the box with minimal fuss.

Could fit

Waterproof hiking shoes are inherently straightforward to use, but low comfort and fit ratings suggest they may need break-in or adjustment rather than plug-and-play ease.

Grounded in our buyer-review, reviewer-video, price and successor signals — a poor fit names a closer pick · as of Jul 29.
