across 2 reviews
2.5/5
mixed
Reviewers praise
  • Waterproofing performs well across wet terrain and mud without excessive heat buildup
  • Comfortable fit with supportive cushioning, effective from early wears
  • Strong multidirectional traction on varied surfaces
Reviewers push back
  • Sole separation reported well before reasonable end-of-life, raising durability questions
  • Internal heel counter can crack and dig into the heel, potentially making the shoe unwearable
  • Heavier and bulkier than comparable hiking shoes on the market
The Targhee III delivers solid waterproofing, comfort, and traction, but long-term durability—especially sole adhesion and heel structure—is a real concern that splits reviewers.
— best for: Casual hikers and everyday outdoor walkers who want reliable waterproofing and good grip and are willing to monitor wear over time.

I've only done a 9 mile hike so far but this "Hiking Sneaker" can handle it. I hiked over some very jagged rocks, mud, and even snow and it handled it like it was nothing as the high ankle support and decently grippy traction held up very well. I expected some damage to the outsole afterwards as I was stepping on rocks at sharp angles but to my surprise they held up. It's definitely gotten dirty b Leviwithan_n · adidas.com

I've now had about 1.5years of experience on these on everything from roadside walking, day hikes on rocky terrian, coastal hikes, multi day hikes into the alpine of Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island and just got off the West Coast Trail. They performed very well, gave me just the right amount of support and despite the beating these trails dish out they show some dirt and small tread wear but o FrankP · mec.ca
