Critics & buyers

What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Fresh Foam X Hierro v8
across 5 reviews
3.5/5
divided
Reviewers praise
  • Fresh Foam X midsole delivers a plush, comfortable ride that still allows reasonable ground feel without feeling overly disconnected
  • Vibram rubber outsole handles hardpack, gravel, compacted forest paths, and wet conditions with confidence
  • Roomy toe box and available wide-fit options make it accessible to a broad range of foot shapes
Reviewers push back
  • Non-gusseted tongue moves around and, combined with slippery laces, makes a locked-down fit difficult to achieve
  • 4 mm lugs struggle in heavy mud, deep bog, or genuinely slippery off-road conditions
  • Not suited to technical or aggressive trail running — behaves more like a road shoe on anything demanding
A comfortable, accessible road-to-trail shoe with reliable cushioning and adequate grip for light trails, let down by a non-gusseted tongue and limited capability in deep mud or technical terrain.
— best for: Runners and walkers who spend most of their time on gravel paths, compacted forest trails, or mixed road-and-light-trail routes and want a cushioned, forgiving shoe that can handle occasional wet or uneven ground.

These shoes are comfortable and well built. I ordered them a half size larger than my usual size to account for long walks and swollen feet. Perfect fit for me. They look as though they’ll last for years but they feel almost like slippers when you put them on. I’m wearing them now on a trip to Norway and Scotland and have had no issues.
