What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Oura Ring Gen 4
across 5 reviews
3.5/5
divided
Reviewers praise
  • Slim, lightweight, fully-titanium build is comfortable to wear day and night and more discreet than wrist-based wearables
  • Nocturnal heart rate and HRV tracking tested closely against ECG reference devices, with reliable overnight accuracy
  • Battery sustains multi-day use on a single charge, with real-world performance that covers most week-long trips
Reviewers push back
  • Ongoing subscription is required to unlock the full depth of health insights, which frustrates reviewers given the upfront hardware cost
  • Generational hardware improvements over the Gen 3 are incremental — smart sensing accuracy gains are plausible but difficult to perceive day-to-day
  • The fully round Gen 4 profile lacks a flat edge, making correct sensor alignment harder to feel than on its predecessor
The Oura Ring 4 is a well-regarded, discreet sleep and recovery tracker with a refined design and solid sensor accuracy, held back by a mandatory subscription and modest generational upgrades over its predecessor.
— best for: People who prioritise sleep quality, recovery, and daily readiness tracking and want a discreet, comfortable form factor that can be worn around the clock without the bulk of a smartwatch.

Reviewers praise
  • Exceptional battery life approaching 30 days in real-world use, including continuous health tracking
  • Convincing analog dive-watch appearance with stainless steel case, ceramic bezel, and sapphire crystal that fools most observers
  • Comprehensive health sensors: continuous heart rate, SpO2, ECG, skin temperature, sleep tracking, and automatic activity recognition
Reviewers push back
  • No built-in GPS; outdoor route tracking requires a paired phone
  • No microphone, speaker, NFC, or music control — smart connectivity is minimal beyond notifications
  • Proprietary magnetic charging cradle is difficult and expensive to replace, especially outside major markets
This smartwatch with these many reasonably accurate health and fitness tracking features and sensors, some of which are actually running 24/7... runs up to 30 days.
NDTV · best for Anyone who wants a watch that looks and wears like a premium analog timepiece but quietly logs health data all day without demanding daily charging or constant screen attention.

Where reviewers split on Oura Ring Gen 4: Reviewers disagree on whether the recessed sensors meaningfully improve comfort — the scientific reviewer found the interior still not perfectly flush, while CNET found the smoother interior noticeably better when sliding the ring on and off On ScanWatch Nova: Reviewers differ on whether the limited smart feature set is a strength or a weakness — some frame the analog-first approach as an intentional, appealing anti-smartphone philosophy, while others flag the missing GPS and NFC as genuine omissions

Okay, let me start by saying I was very skeptical of the bad reviews I have seen about the Oura Ring 4. We all tend to focus on those. I wanted to write this review to give my honest opinion. I looked into this ring for many months, trying to decide whether to buy it. I wanted to pay more attention to my stress levels, and my sleeping patterns, and I hate wearing a watch in bed. This has been an excellent purchase - smart-looking, whilst quietly and unobtrusively recording all my data at the same time. I didn't want a watch that was going to be flashing and grabbing my attention all the time, but I do like to know how I'm progressing towards my fitness goals. This does everything and looks good at the same time. Battery life is great, lasting many days but also changing v JamesO · argos.co.uk
