How this is made

What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Oura Ring Gen 4
across 5 reviews
3.5/5
divided
Reviewers praise
  • Slim, lightweight, fully-titanium build is comfortable to wear day and night and more discreet than wrist-based wearables
  • Nocturnal heart rate and HRV tracking tested closely against ECG reference devices, with reliable overnight accuracy
  • Battery sustains multi-day use on a single charge, with real-world performance that covers most week-long trips
Reviewers push back
  • Ongoing subscription is required to unlock the full depth of health insights, which frustrates reviewers given the upfront hardware cost
  • Generational hardware improvements over the Gen 3 are incremental — smart sensing accuracy gains are plausible but difficult to perceive day-to-day
  • The fully round Gen 4 profile lacks a flat edge, making correct sensor alignment harder to feel than on its predecessor
The Oura Ring 4 is a well-regarded, discreet sleep and recovery tracker with a refined design and solid sensor accuracy, held back by a mandatory subscription and modest generational upgrades over its predecessor.
— best for: People who prioritise sleep quality, recovery, and daily readiness tracking and want a discreet, comfortable form factor that can be worn around the clock without the bulk of a smartwatch.
Watch Ultra 2
across 5 reviews
3.5/5
mixed
Reviewers praise
  • Exceptional display brightness reaches 3,000 nits, the highest on any Apple device, with a useful low-end floor of 1 nit for sleep use
  • Double-tap gesture works reliably and consistently, growing more useful over time as third-party app support expands
  • On-device Siri processing delivers faster, more consistent responses for basic tasks without requiring a network connection
Reviewers push back
  • Design is visually identical to the previous generation, making it impossible to distinguish the two watches externally
  • Performance and UI speed improvements from the new chip are imperceptible in daily use
  • On-device Siri is limited to very basic tasks; anything requiring a data lookup still needs a network connection
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is a refined but incremental upgrade over its predecessor, delivering a brighter display, a reliable double-tap gesture, and faster on-device Siri, but offering little to distinguish it visually or functionally from the original Ultra.
— best for: People coming from no Apple Watch or a much older generation, outdoor athletes, divers, and those who want the largest display, longest battery, and most durable Apple Watch build available.

Where reviewers split on Oura Ring Gen 4: Reviewers disagree on whether the recessed sensors meaningfully improve comfort — the scientific reviewer found the interior still not perfectly flush, while CNET found the smoother interior noticeably better when sliding the ring on and off On Watch Ultra 2: Reviewers differ on how meaningful the brightness increase is in practice: some find it a genuine advantage outdoors, while others say the previous generation was already sufficient in bright sunlight and the main gain is the flashlight mode

Okay, let me start by saying I was very skeptical of the bad reviews I have seen about the Oura Ring 4. We all tend to focus on those. I wanted to write this review to give my honest opinion. I looked into this ring for many months, trying to decide whether to buy it. I wanted to pay more attention to my stress levels, and my sleeping patterns, and I hate wearing a watch in bed. I’ve worn a few Apple Watches over the years, and the Ultra is on a completely different level. The titanium band feels solid but not heavy, the display is insanely bright, and the battery life is finally what I always wanted from an Apple Watch (comfortably more than a day, even with workouts and notifications going nonstop). The Action Button is actually practical, not gimmicky. GPS accuracy is Ethan G · influenster.com
