What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Ultraventure 4
across 5 reviews
3.5/5
mixed
Reviewers praise
  • Anatomically shaped, wide toe box gives toes genuine room without sacrificing midfoot and heel lockdown
  • Zip foam midsole delivers a balanced mix of cushioning, ground feel, and rebound that beds in well over miles
  • Rocker geometry makes the ride efficient and easy underfoot on pack single track and gravel
Reviewers push back
  • Shallow 4 mm lugs limit traction on loose, muddy, or genuinely technical terrain — not a deep-mountain shoe
  • Wide fit can feel insecure for narrow-footed runners, requiring aggressive lace tension to achieve lockdown
  • On steep technical descents the foot can shift forward, causing toe bump — the shoe is out of its element there
A well-built, roomy-toed trail shoe with capable cushioning and grip for mild to moderate terrain, though it falls short on technical descents and very aggressive ground.
— best for: Runners who cover packed single track, gravel, fire roads, or road-to-trail mixed routes and want a roomy toe box with efficient, protective cushioning for efforts up to ultra distance on moderate ground.

Reviewers praise
  • Matrix woven upper combines durability, breathability, and abrasion resistance — addressing blowout weaknesses of the prior model
  • Virtually no break-in period; fits comfortably and securely from the first wear
  • Gore-Tex waterproofing performs well even in submersion and prolonged wet conditions without cooking feet in heat
Reviewers push back
  • Heavier than the previous model — the durability upgrade comes with a measurable weight increase
  • Traction becomes sketchy on slick or wet rocks, particularly after crossing water onto dry stone
  • Side protection has soft spots; sharp lateral objects can still penetrate the upper material
It literally feels like I've got a pair of running shoes on right now cuz they're so lightweight.
Sun & Ski Sports · best for Hikers and backpackers who want a lightweight yet durable waterproof boot for varied terrain — especially those who experienced durability issues with the prior model or who carry significant pack weight.

One reviewer found the wider toe box an unqualified improvement; another noted it may require tighter lacing for narrower feet to feel locked in

I bought these to do the Acatenango volcano hike in Guatemala. It's a challenging, steep overnight hike through farmlands, cloud forest and volcanic material. I was very impressed with the grip and stability they provided, and the gore-tex material kept my feet dry and warm at altitude. I would recommend these for any kind of moderate to challenging hike.
