The verdict

What the panel makes of it.

The weakest buyer sentiment centers on the formula change from benzoyl peroxide to salicylic acid, which video reviewers likely flagged as a key efficacy concern.

In their words

As a dermatology resident, I consider Effaclar Duo+ a useful adjuvant for mild to moderate acne, that enhances outcomes when combined with first-line agents such as retinoids and benzoyl peroxide. Its lightweight gel-cream texture absorbs quickly, doesn’t feel oily, has a pleasant scent, and is well tolerated without causing irritation, which is frequent in acne patients due to the actives used. I’m really disappointed that the Effaclar Duo with benzoyl peroxide was discontinued. It was hands down the best acne spot treatment I’ve ever used, and I’ve struggled with acne my entire life. Unfortunately, the new salicylic acid formula just hasn’t worked nearly as well for me. That said, I still love and recommend this brand overall — others may have better luck with the new version!
