About

What it is.

Surface Headphones 4 is Microsoft's over-ear wireless headphone, part of the Surface accessory line, built around active noise cancellation, on-ear touch controls, and an ear cup design tuned for clear acoustics across music and calls. Adjustable noise cancellation and volume are controlled by touch or voice, with Cortana integration for hands-free playback, calls, and schedule checks.

It suits listeners who want a refined, all-day wearable from an established maker — something that handles commuting, travel, and office use with consistent comfort, rather than a stripped-down or purely utilitarian pair of cans. Rechargeable battery life supports extended sessions with quick top-ups between uses.

The verdict

Buyers strongly endorse the Surface Headphones 4's intuitive dial controls and Windows integration, though disagreement persists over whether sound quality warrants the $350 price tag and the absence of multipoint Bluetooth limits versatility. The refined build and comfort appeal to those prioritizing design and ecosystem fit over cutting-edge audio performance.

Buyers' concern about sound quality not matching the price aligns with critics noting the sound signature lacks dynamic range and bass despite being neutral-to-warm.

In their words

Item arrived in about 3 days which was earlier than scheduled. The headphones arrived in the original packaging and with the manuals. The buttons were functional. The sound was as good as my Sony wh-1000xm3. The battery life is good and the headphones are very comfortable with excellent bass. I love the controls, very easy to maneuver. They paired with no effort, overall a great buy.

Sound quality is good, but not as quite good as Bose or Sony etc. If you can get them at a good discount, the controls are amazing! Well made, great case, nice design. The two best features is the intelligent ability to switch from PC to phone and the dial controls make them easy to use. They are a bit heavy, but are very comfortable.

Early Adopternewest first

You chase the newest generation with cutting-edge features and no successor in sight.

Not for you

No data confirms this is the latest generation or that no successor exists; without evidence of being the newest model, the fit is weak for early adopters seeking the frontier.
