AI summary of 5 reviews · as of Jun 2026

Reviewers broadly agree the Dagger OSMO 2P is one of the most livable and well-built lightweight freestanding backpacking tents available, with durable OSMO fabric and thoughtful details that justify its place in a serious kit.

What they praise

  • OSMO fabric blend resists water absorption and sagging, holds shape in wet conditions better than standard nylon, and uses no eco-hazardous chemicals
  • Spacious, genuinely livable interior with near-vertical walls, high peak height, and a fully rectangular symmetrical floor that accommodates two wide sleeping pads
  • Generous vestibule space on both sides gives each occupant separate gear storage and a private door
  • Color-coded poles, corners, and clips make setup fast and intuitive even for new users
  • Strong storm performance enabled by multiple stake-out and guy-line points, a hub-pole structure, and pre-bent poles that maintain wall clearance

What they knock

  • No fly-first pitch mode, so the inner mesh gets wet during setup in rain — a real drawback in reliably wet climates
  • At roughly 1.86 kg packed, it is heavier than ultralight trekking-pole shelters, limiting appeal to weight-obsessive minimalists
  • 50-inch floor width is workable for two people but reviewers note it is the bare minimum, with little margin to spare

In their words

This is my second Nemo Dagger 2P - used my first one relentlessly to the point where the shock cords and zippers were worn and I wanted the OSMO fabric. Best tent I have ever owned - after backpacking for 60 years. Extremely durable and stable in wind and rain. The dual entry from both sides is incredibly valuable and convenient.

Dave S · verified purchase · REI

I already own Nemo products: Kunai 2p, Dragonfly OSMO 1P, all season tensor pad, disco 15 and 30 sleeping bags. We decided to purchase this Dagger OSMO 2P for summer backpacking. The tent dimensions are inaccurate. It is not 50 inches wide. We measured it after our two Nemo all season tensor pads 25 inches wide did not fit the tent. Also, one of the pole attachments broke causing the cord to snap

Frequently asked

What buyers want to know.

  • Nemo Dagger good in wind and rain?r/backpacking

Reviewers say it performs strongly in storms, with multiple stake-out and guy-line points, a hub-pole structure, and pre-bent poles that keep walls clear of the fabric. The main drawback is the absence of a fly-first pitch mode, so the inner mesh gets wet during setup in rain — a real problem in reliably wet climates,…

  • Nemo OSMO sag?r/CampingGear

The OSMO fabric blend resists water absorption and sagging, and holds its shape in wet conditions better than standard nylon. Reviewers note it uses no eco-hazardous chemicals while maintaining structural integrity.

  • How easy is the Nemo Dagger OSMO 2P to set up?

Color-coded poles, corners, and clips make setup fast and intuitive, even for new users. The freestanding design means you can pitch it anywhere without stakes.

  • Who is the Nemo Dagger OSMO 2P best for?

It is best for backpackers who prioritize a roomy, durable, freestanding shelter with genuine two-person livability and are willing to accept modest weight over ultralight trekking-pole designs. It is not for gram-counters who need fly-first pitch capability in high-rain environments or solo travelers seeking the smal…

  • Is the 2-person floor width actually roomy enough?

The 50-inch floor width is workable for two people but reviewers note it is the bare minimum, with little margin to spare. Two wide sleeping pads fit, but there is not much extra space.
