About

What it is.

Roborock's S9 MaxV Ultra sits at the top of the brand's robot vacuum lineup, pairing suction cleaning with an automated mopping system in a single bagless, cordless unit. It works with a dock that handles washing and refilling duties for the mop, reducing the amount of manual upkeep the machine otherwise demands. Obstacle avoidance is handled through Roborock's camera-based ReactiveAI system, letting the unit navigate around furniture, cords, and clutter on its own.

Built for households that want whole-floor cleaning left to a machine rather than managed by hand, it integrates with Amazon Alexa for voice control and fits into a smart home routine alongside other connected devices. It's suited to anyone standardizing on Roborock's ecosystem for consistent, hands-off floor care.

The verdict

The S9 MaxV excels at automated carpet cleaning with strong suction and near-silent operation, earning consistent buyer praise, though its mopping function proves inconsistent—excellent on tile for some owners but unreliable in coverage and water management for others.

In their words

My wife an I are very pleased with the S7 max and the dock. We had an irobot 8 series and the upgrade to mopping capabilities has been nothing short of amazing. Our house is one level, 90% tile, and short pile area rugs. Having had the new system for a few weeks our floors are very clean.

Trebacz · verified purchase · us.roborock.com

If you are buying this for the mopping feature, find a different company. This design has a ton of flaws. First, people buy a robot to avoid having to do extra work. We should not be required to wet the mopping pad before use. I have the dock clean the pad prior to use. It lasts for about 40 feet before leaving tiny wet strips on the floor. It also leaves wheel tracks in the mopping section.

Quality Perfectionistbest-in-class

You demand top-tier cleaning performance and reliability from a robot vacuum.

Good fit

High buyer rating (4.7/5, 424 reviews), strong cleaning power and automation, proven reliability. Mopping is mid-tier, which slightly tempers the perfectionist fit, but overall a near-flagship…

Enthusiastjoy & aesthetics

You love smart home gadgets and appreciate thoughtful design and performance.

Could fit

Strong automation, high cleaning power, and quiet operation appeal to enthusiasts. However, the data doesn't highlight distinctive design aesthetics or passionate reviews about sensory experience…

Simplifierjust works

You want a robot vacuum that works out of the box with minimal fiddling.

Could fit

Mid-tier ease of setup and software suggests some configuration needed. The dual mopping attachment and automation features add complexity compared to basic models, making it less of a safe default.

Value-Maximizerprice first

You want a robot vacuum that cleans well but won't break the bank.

Not for you

At ~$1210, it's a premium-tier price point. Cheaper rivals like the Roomba 694 (~$175) or 360 Vis Nav (~$350) cover the basics for a fraction of the cost, making this a poor fit for budget-conscious… Consider Roomba 694.
