The verdict

What the panel makes of it.

The Triumph 21 ranks #7 for knee pain relief and delivers reliable cushioning and durability for daily training and recovery miles, though its added weight and warmer upper make it less suitable for faster-paced running or hot conditions. Reviewers and buyers agree on its soft, comfortable ride, though some buyers question whether the redesign justifies its predecessors' reputation.

AI summary of 5 reviews · as of May 2026

Reviewers agree the Triumph 21 is a well-cushioned, comfortable daily trainer that made minimal changes from the previous version, with praise for its durable build and soft ride but notes about added weight and a warmer upper.

What they praise

  • Power run plus midsole delivers soft, plush cushioning while retaining enough energy return for daily training
  • Durable construction with xt900 rubber outsole and solid build quality that holds up over high mileage
  • Comfortable fit with good lockdown and minimal break-in required
  • Generous stack height provides excellent underfoot protection without feeling bulky

What they knock

  • Gained weight compared to the previous model, coming in heavier than some competing daily trainers
  • Flat knit upper may feel warmer and less breathable than the previous engineered mesh in hot conditions
  • Not designed for faster paces or tempo work despite being capable of handling varied runs
  • Upper may feel slightly too roomy in the toe box and heel pocket for some runners

In their own words

  • I think this is a shoe that works with you it sort of disappears in a way I think that's really nice

    The Run Testers

  • I heard through the Great Vine you guys sent me emails that a lot of people got at least 400 miles out of their Triumph

    Seth James DeMoor

  • I felt like for whatever reason this midsole felt a little bit softer like it had a little bit more give than the previous version

Buyers' weakest aspect—durability of the foam—aligns with video reviewers' concern that the flat knit upper may feel warmer and less breathable, and that the shoe has gained weight compared to the previous model.

In their words

Cushioning:soft Comfort:great Fit:fit Excellent value for money! I bought the Saucony Triumph 21 from the official store at a great discount and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The shoes are lightweight, comfortable, and provide excellent cushioning. The fit is true to size, and the support feels great for walking and long-distance use.

These are significantly different from previous triumphs! I’ve run in triumphs for my last 5 years or so (maybe 6 pairs) and the new style is a turn off. They’re squishy for sure, but the technology has completely changed and in turn ruining my runs . So frustrated after only 3 months and need a new sneaker. Also the styrofoam at the heel Is a chunk and pieces fleck off/knicked at times.

Value-Maximizerprice first

You want a durable daily trainer that won't break the bank but delivers real comfort.

Good fit

Mid-range price (~$90–120) with strong 4.3/5 rating and praised durability make it solid value; heavier weight and minimal innovation are trade-offs for the cost.

Premium Connoisseurbrand & status

You value an established brand's flagship shoe with prestige and refined design.

Could fit

Saucony is an established heritage brand, but Triumph 21 is a workhorse daily trainer, not a premium flagship; it lacks the design distinction or prestige positioning.

Enthusiastjoy & aesthetics

You're passionate about running shoes and want one that delights beyond raw performance.

Not for you

Reviewers focus on functional comfort and durability, not design aesthetics or sensory delight; it's utilitarian and capable but lacks the passion-inspiring qualities enthusiasts seek. Consider Bondi 9.

Quality Perfectionistbest-in-class

You demand the absolute best-in-class running shoe with no compromises.

Not for you

Good rating and comfort, but added weight, reduced breathability, and minimal changes from prior model signal it's a competent daily trainer, not a top-tier standout. Consider Bondi 9.

Frequently asked

What buyers want to know.

  • What is Saucony Triumph 21 good for?

The Triumph 21 is built for long easy runs and recovery miles. Reviewers praise it as a well-cushioned daily trainer with a soft, plush ride and durable construction that holds up over high mileage. It's not designed for faster paces or tempo work.

  • What is the difference between Triumph 20 and 21?
