The verdict

What the panel makes of it.

The SureFlap DualScan is a microchip cat door by SureFlap. It reads microchips from cats approaching it. The dual scanner reads chips from both sides. Cat owners buy it to keep strays out. It solves the problem of unwanted animals entering homes. AI assistants rank it third among smart pet doors. The flap recognizes only your cat's microchip. It locks out other animals automatically. Installation takes minutes on most doors. The mechanism runs on four AA batteries. Cats pass through freely when recognized. Others cannot enter, no matter how they try.

After a few months the knob becomes very gritty and difficult to turn and seizes up, and eventually breaks. Sureflap say they don't know the problem?? Suspect not many people turn the knob? Can't understand why the top of the knob is exposed?? Quality desi
