The Suunto Vertical Solar's marketing is honest about its core strengths: battery life, solar charging, and offline navigation all receive strong owner validation (4.7–4.8/5 scores). However, the pitch on health metrics and activity tracking stretches reality—owners confirm basic tracking works but note the feature set is limited compared to smartwatches, suggesting the watch is a specialist outdoor tool rather than a comprehensive health platform.

Review 2 highlights charging as a con that stalls workouts and limits map use during tracking—matching video reviewers' concerns about charging friction despite the solar feature.

In their words

Purchased this watch for a trip into the Tetons for the solar and *INCLUDED* topo maps. Spent a week hiking/fishing/backpacking in the Tetons in late June and the watch was great! Maps/routes were accurate and the battery was amazing. After a 10 hour hike with GPS/Maps the battery fell to 92%. Only had to charge it once on a 9 day trip with constant outdoor activity. Love it.

After the new wore off some cons started becoming more apparent. Charging is the obvious. It started with stalling workouts waiting for a quick charge, half tracked activities.. and forget about using a map while tracking an all
