The verdict
What the panel makes of it.
The Beta LT ranks fourth among lightweight hard-shells and earns broad agreement between reviewers and buyers for its exceptional DWR durability and athletic fit, though its $400 price tag and lack of interior pockets disappoint users seeking everyday value. Best suited to climbers and mountaineers willing to maintain the waterproofing, it falls short for casual hikers wanting a relaxed fit and multiple storage…

AI summary of 3 reviews · as of Jun 2026
Reviewers agree the Beta LT is a premium, durable hard-shell with exceptional DWR performance and a trim athletic fit, though all note the high price and missing interior pocket.
What they praise
- DWR coating lasts significantly longer than competing jackets, even under harness and pack strap wear
- Trim athletic cut allows full range of motion without the jacket riding up during climbing or overhead movements
- Gore-Tex construction with quality face fabric delivers reliable waterproofing and breathability
- Helmet-compatible hood with on-the-fly adjustment drawcords
- Lightweight and packable despite full feature set
What they knock
- No interior chest pocket despite the premium price point
- Sleeves run long and bunch up at the wrists on shorter users
- Hood is oversized for non-helmet use and can blow down in wind gusts if not adjusted
- Eventually seeps water in prolonged torrential downpours and requires regular maintenance to sustain waterproofing

Buyers' weakest aspect—waterproofing maintenance—aligns with video reviewers' note that the jacket eventually seeps in prolonged downpours and requires regular maintenance to sustain waterproofing.
In their words
“Solid hard-shell that's great for heavy rain and snow! I have taken it with me on numerous backpacking trips where I've been caught in heavy downpours and decent snowfall. It's also held up great whilst caught in hurricane-like rain/wind during a trip to Mexico. Super durable, and I enjoy the versatility of it. Very comparable to the Patagonia Torrentshell. (Dare I say better, because of how much ”

“This was my first Arc’teryx jacket and it did not disappoint! I wore it for hikes within Canada and also on my trips to Japan and South Korea. After some wear and washes the silver inside lining has faded significantly. Reapplying the waterproofing is a bit tedious, as you'll need to run the dryer for a full cycle at least or sometimes more. Overall this jacket fits great, and has lots of pockets ”
