What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Ghost 18
across 5 reviews
3.5/5
divided
Reviewers praise
  • Excellent step-in and all-day comfort, with a well-padded heel collar and improved tongue delivering a secure, cushioned fit
  • Smooth, stable ride that transitions cleanly through the stride without instability or ankle-roll risk
  • Highly durable outsole with thick rubber coverage that holds up well over high mileage on road and mixed surfaces
Reviewers push back
  • Runs on the firmer side and requires a noticeable break-in period before the foam softens
  • Slightly heavy for a daily trainer, which some reviewers found limiting compared to lighter competitors
  • Lower stack height and traditional ride feel dated against higher-stack, softer alternatives in the same category
The Brooks Ghost 18 is a dependable, comfortable daily trainer with a smooth, balanced ride that reviewers broadly recommend for everyday runners, though most note it feels firm, traditional, and unexciting compared to more modern alternatives.
— best for: Beginner and intermediate runners who want a no-fuss, reliable daily trainer with a stable, balanced ride, wide fit options, and long-lasting build quality.

The Ghost has been the very best running and walking shoe I have ever used and I have used them all! First and foremost the fit, (narrow) has been flawless. I do use an orthotic, go up half a size and the shoe is the most comfortable and functioning running and walking shoe on the market. The neutral support aided by the orthotic insert offers stable foot control, proper knee alignment and superio AndrewH · brooksrunning.com

Reviews will say this shoe is boring compared to super shoes and other brands. But you can’t beat the way mizuno’s geometry works on the foot while running. Compared to the wave rider 23 and Waveknit 3 these have so much more energy return. I tend to supinate, have a high arch, and have a little narrow feet and the 9.5 is fine but I understand why some say it runs small. My break in run had me run Blake615 · hibbett.com
