What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Mineral Mattescreen SPF 40
4.3/5
divided
Reviewers praise
  • Smooth, air-whipped texture that feels lightweight and non-greasy
  • Minimal to no white cast despite being a mineral formula
  • Works as a makeup primer and blurs pores and imperfections
Reviewers push back
  • SPF 40 rather than 50, which one reviewer felt was lower than ideal
  • Texture and tint may not suit those wanting a fully invisible, non-tinted sunscreen
  • Very dry skin types may need a moisturizer underneath
Reviewers describe a mineral tinted sunscreen with a smooth, matte, non-greasy finish that doubles as a primer and works well on sensitive, oily, or acne-prone skin.
— best for: People with sensitive, oily, or melasma-prone skin who want light coverage, a matte finish, and mineral sun protection without heavy makeup.
UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46
3.4/5
Reviewers praise
  • Contains niacinamide and lactic acid that help calm redness and brighten hyperpigmentation
  • Lightweight formula with a matte to demi-matte finish that works well under makeup
  • Does not sting eyes or burn sensitive skin after procedures
Reviewers push back
  • Leaves noticeable white or gray cast on deeper skin tones
  • Can pill or peel when layered over certain serums and moisturizers
  • Contains octinoxate chemical filter despite being marketed as gentle and mineral-focused
A hybrid sunscreen with zinc oxide and octinoxate that reviewers agree works well for acne-prone and rosacea skin but leaves a white cast on deeper skin tones and may pill with certain products.
— best for: Those with acne-prone, rosacea, or post-procedure skin who have light to medium skin tones and work indoors or need daily gentle protection.

I have dark skin. I've used way too many sunscreens in my life. They've all either left a horrible white cast, are extremely greasy, or pill. This is the ONLY sunscreen I've used that does none of the above and actually makes my skin look amazing! It's slightly tinted and blends in perfectly with my dark skin tone. It looks very natural and matte which I love. It even blurred my pores and some of Margarita1902 · sephora.com

EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 is hands-down one of the best sunscreens I’ve ever used. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly without leaving a white cast—perfect for daily wear, even under makeup. I love that it’s formulated with niacinamide, which helps calm redness and improve skin tone over time. What really makes this sunscreen stand out is how gentle it is.
