Short answer?

Take Grit X2 Pro if you weight the AI ranking, reviewer scores and a lower price; take Race if buyer ratings matter more. That's where they diverge — elsewhere they're close.

How this is made

Built from what 3 AI models (Claude · ChatGPT · Perplexity) recommend for real buyer questions, layered with reviewer test summaries, Google buyer ratings, street prices and press. The short answer and verdict are derived from where those signals diverge — not written by hand for either product.

What reviewers say

Distilled from the video reviewers — the score, what they praise, where they push back.?

Grit X2 Pro
across 5 reviews
4.0/5

Reviewers praise
  • Exceptionally bright and sharp AMOLED display remains fully legible in all lighting conditions, including direct sunlight
  • Premium build quality with sapphire crystal lens that resists scratches; titanium variant is notably light for its size
  • Comprehensive navigation suite including offline topo maps, breadcrumb trails, and third-party route compatibility
Reviewers push back
  • User interface feels dated and offers limited customisation compared to rivals, with reviewers across multiple channels calling for a visual refresh
  • Step counting is unreliable, inflating counts during non-step activities such as cycling, and occasional large erroneous spikes have been reported
  • The screen-based flashlight is harder to aim than a dedicated front-facing torch found on some competing watches
A well-built, premium outdoor sports watch with a brilliant AMOLED display, strong GPS, and comprehensive training tools, held back by a dated interface and a few software quirks.
— best for: Outdoor endurance athletes — hikers, trail runners, and cyclists — who want a durable, feature-complete training watch with best-in-class navigation and are willing to pay for premium materials and a sharp AMOLED display.

Reviewers praise
  • Offline maps are highly accurate, detailed, and easy to follow with multiple navigation options
  • Bright AMOLED display remains readable in direct sunlight
  • Battery life delivers many days of normal use and extended GPS tracking sessions
Reviewers push back
  • Optical heart rate sensor shows inconsistent accuracy, particularly during cycling and some running sessions
  • Training metrics and recovery data lack beginner-friendly explanations for users unfamiliar with training load concepts
  • Sleep tracking detection can be unreliable even when worn correctly
this watch clearly undercuts both of those company's pricing strategies and pretty much just like throws it through the paper shredder
DC Rainmaker · best for Experienced runners and outdoor athletes who plan routes, value reliable navigation in remote areas, and already own or plan to use a chest heart rate strap for accuracy.

Where reviewers split on Grit X2 Pro: GPS accuracy drew different impressions: DC Rainmaker devoted significant testing to it and noted Polar's antenna claims, while The Quantified Scientist found earlier sensor-set results on the identical sibling watch to be relatively poor, pending full independent retesting On Race: Some reviewers found the optical heart rate sensor significantly improved from earlier models, while others still encountered cadence lock and zone misreads

Have been using this watch for majority of this year after being long time Garmin user. Overall I'm very happy with the watch, it's functionality, accuracy and reliability. Battery life is not quite as good being AMOLED but its understandable. All in all its been a good purchase and I'd recommend it to athletes. John · REI

Love this watch. It’s my 3 Suunto over my 40 year running career. Each watch lasted a little over 10 years. Each new one was better. Better charging, better operating system then the internet happened. The display has gotten noticeably better and recently I noticed the wrist data collection is nearly as good as using a chest strap. The watch has never failed during a race or while training.
