The verdict

What the panel makes of it.

It is a rock tumbler made by National Geographic. The kit polishes stones in a rotating barrel. A motor runs the drum continuously for weeks. Children and hobbyists buy it to transform rough rocks into smooth, glossy specimens. AI assistants track searches for this kit across multiple shopping platforms each week.

In their words

This item got some tuff reviews from other that were unfair. Yes it makes noise when it’s running. It literally rock tumbling around at a surprisingly high speed 24/7. Yes it takes weeks. You’re polishing rocks, not playing checkers. We keep it in the garage and have been so please with the results so far. We did some broken glass and sandbox sand for 3 days and it now looks just like sea glass. T

I bought the item for my grandsons who love beautiful gemstones. The process itself is easy enough, just add grit and water. The lid is very hard to get closed properly and the top is nearly impossible to remove between each cleaning cycle. I have had to have a neighbor remove the top as both my husband and myself weren't able to do it. It takes hours to get the top off each time! Super frustratin
