Owners praise its lightweight design and comfort for children, but the Styrofoam headrest breaks easily and customer support is unresponsive when replacements are needed.

Brand claims1/4 true4 promises checked

The Evenflo Maestro Sport is honestly positioned as lightweight and comfortable, with confirmed 5-point harness specs and removable padding. However, the marketing overstates height capacity (claiming 57 inches when harness mode maxes at 50 inches) and glosses over a critical durability flaw: the Styrofoam headrest breaks easily during routine maintenance, contradicting the "easy cleanup" benefit claim.

The verdict

What the panel makes of it.

The Evenflo Maestro Sport ranks seventh among travel car seats and earns a solid 4.1-star rating from over 1,300 buyers who value its light weight and comfort, though the Styrofoam headrest tends to crack and replacements prove difficult to obtain. At $87–$130, it suits parents prioritizing portability, but durability concerns and limited support options are genuine drawbacks.

Multiple buyers report the Styrofoam headrest breaking during normal use or cover removal, matching the durability concerns video reviewers likely raised.

In their words

This car seat seems to be very comfortable for my four year old son. He would whine about his poor little back hurting in his old car seat so we switched to this one and he hasn't complained since. I also love the support it offers his head when he naps. In his old car seat his head was hanging and he would be restless trying to stabilize his head. That was an unexpected bonus for us.

ALM · verified purchase · Target

Less than six months of use, we took the cover off to wash it and part of the seat popped off and broke easily. If part of the seat is styrofoam and breaks just by taking the cover off then I am not confident it would do well in an accident. The straps are difficult to adjust and it was difficult to install in my partner’s car.
