I've purchased all of my running shoes from RRS for over 20 years now, and this shoe was the worst - actually the only shoe I've ever had an issue with. The outsoles wore through to the midsole and the midsole/cushion completely compressed and failed - after only 159 miles!!! I get 350-400 miles from my shoes on average. I've never seen such a poorly performing shoe, and will not buy On's again. I

Frequently asked

What buyers want to know.

  • What is Cloudstratus good for?

The Cloudstratus is a stable daily trainer built for higher-mileage runners who want a firm-cushioned shoe with a roomy fit. Reviewers note it works well for moderate-paced running and delivers smooth transitions from heel to toe.

  • What are the cons of Cloudstratus?

The shoe feels firmer than other max-cushion trainers despite its dual-layer cushioning, and it weighs over ten ounces, which is heavy for a premium shoe. The CloudTec pods can collect rocks and debris during runs, and the fit may feel loose through the midfoot and heel for narrow or average-width feet.

  • Who is the Cloudstratus best for?

It suits runners who prefer stability and firm cushioning over plush softness and who have wider feet or need a roomy toe box. It is not a good fit for runners seeking soft recovery-day shoes, lightweight trainers, or a snug fit through the midfoot and heel.

  • How comfortable is the Cloudstratus?

Reviewers praise the well-constructed engineered mesh upper, gusseted tongue, and improved padding around the collar and heel. However, reviewers are split on cushioning comfort—some find the firmness appropriate for daily training while others expected softer feel for a max-cushion shoe.

  • Why are On sneakers popular?

On shoes are known for superior workmanship and clean, modern design. The Cloudstratus specifically features dual-layer CloudTec cushioning and a Speedboard that creates a forward roll, which reviewers say enhances the ride at moderate paces.

  • Is Cloudstratus good for wide feet?

Yes. The engineered mesh upper has a roomy toe box and accommodating fit designed for runners with wider feet. Reviewers note this as a standout feature compared to the shoe's fit issues for narrow-width runners.
